Born
in Lienz, East Tyrol, first musical tuition at the age of six. Founder
and "boss" of the Wiener Floetenwerkstatt.
Werner Tomasi studied flute at the Vienna Academy (now University)
of Music and Performing Arts with Prof. Barbara Gisler-Haase. He
is a Vienna Philharmonic WANAS Foundation prize winner. He performed
earlier in concerts with various ensembles and orchestras, and
due
to a lack of time today he remains solely a member of
the Vienna Flautists, an association of eight flautists. Since 1986
he has carried out State-sponsored research projects related to
flute construction in collaboration with the Vienna Academy of Music's
Institute for Viennese Tonal Style.
